Beaufort Shelf Cabled Seafloor Observatory (BCO)
An Engineering Study for a Cabled Observatory on the Beaufort Shelf
Overview
We proposed to assemble the science and develop a conceptual plan for a cabled seafloor observatory with a landing in Barrow, Alaska. The work plan called for workshop in Barrow to gather community and science desires and a subsequent technical working group meeting to formulate and document a conceptual approach.
Science, Education and Community Input Workshop
The workshop to gather science and community input was held in Barrow, Alaska February 7-8, 2005 and hosted by the Barrow Arctic Science Consortium. A meeting report was published in EOS (see below.)
Concept Development Workshop
The concept development workshop was held at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) November 16-18, 2005 in Monterey, CA.
